Research

Thermodynamic, dynamic and spectroscopic methods are being used to investigate amphiphilic systems that self-assemble or form strong complexes by means of noncovalent bonding. Micellar, surfactant-polymer and cyclodextrin-inclusate systems are being used to obtain improved information about their precise morphologies and mechanism of association in order to assess their potential as model systems for understanding some fundamental biological interactions. As well, photochemically prepared fluorophores are being evaluated as potential structural and conformational probes in the stereodynamic studies of nucleic acids.
